Our verdict

Choose Jobber when you are a solo operator seeking the lower published starting price, want a polished client hub and prefer a broad app marketplace. Choose Housecall Pro when job costing matters on the entry plan, or when its five-user Essentials package better matches your growing home-service team.

Neither is automatically cheaper. Compare the exact tier, user count, billing term, add-ons and payment fees your business will actually use.

WINNER FOR SOLO ENTRY PRICE · JOBBER

Pricing and included users

Jobber's Core plan has the lower published one-user starting price. Housecall Pro's Basic costs more, but includes job costing and a price book—features that may remove the need to upgrade for some contractors.

For five users, the annual published price is tied: Jobber Connect and Housecall Pro Essentials are both listed at $149 per month when billed annually. Feature fit, rather than the headline price, should decide this comparison.

CORE WORKFLOW · TIE

Scheduling, dispatch and field work

Both platforms handle online booking, scheduling, job assignment, estimates or quotes, invoices and payments. Jobber emphasizes a connected client experience through its client hub. Housecall Pro explicitly positions scheduling and dispatch as entry-plan features and includes offline viewing in every plan.

  • Both offer iOS and Android mobile apps
  • Both connect office and field job information
  • Both support customer payments

WINNER FOR ENTRY-LEVEL COST TRACKING · HOUSECALL PRO

Job costing and operations

Housecall Pro lists job costing in Basic, letting a one-user business track job-related costs without moving to Essentials. Jobber lists job costing on Grow, while Connect provides time and expense tracking. Jobber's higher Plus tier adds automated job costing and profitability alerts.

Housecall Pro Essentials adds routes, flat-rate pricing, checklist automations, photo reports, employee GPS tracking and commissions. Jobber Connect adds reminders, automatic payments, checklists, quote and invoice follow-ups, time and expense tracking, and QuickBooks Online sync.

CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE · DEPENDS ON YOUR PRIORITY

Booking, communication and sales

Jobber's client hub lets customers approve quotes, check appointments and pay invoices in one place. Its higher tiers add two-way texting, enhanced quotes, automation and optional marketing tools. Housecall Pro combines booking, estimates, payments and review management in Basic, while Max adds visual sales proposals and recurring service plans.

Choose Jobber for a polished self-service customer portal and broader workflow automation. Choose Housecall Pro when review collection, consumer financing or its home-service sales features align better with your process.

Which should you choose?

  • Choose Jobber: lower entry cost, client hub, Xero support or broad marketplace connections matter most.
  • Choose Housecall Pro: entry-level job costing, price book, offline viewing or the Essentials operations bundle is a better fit.
  • Test both: you have 2–5 users and need to compare mobile workflow, accounting setup and customer communication in practice.

Run the same three sample jobs in each trial—from booking through payment—and ask every office and field user to participate. The better product is the one your team can operate consistently.

Compare the first year and renewal year

Fix the same user count, contract term and required features for both products. At the standard published annual-billing rates checked September 25, one user on Jobber Core is $29 per month ($348 for 12 months), while Housecall Pro Basic is $59 per month ($708 for 12 months). For five users, the listed standard $149 per month rates make Jobber Connect and Housecall Pro Essentials each $1,788 for 12 months. These are subscription-only examples, not checkout quotes.

Jobber's pricing page currently advertises a separate introductory annual-billing rate for the first 12 months. For example, Core is shown at $21 per month before the listed $29 renewal rate, and five-user Connect at $105 before $149. If eligible and billed for a full year at those introductory rates, their first-year subscription arithmetic is $252 and $1,260 respectively. Check offer terms and renewal before relying on those amounts. Housecall Pro also advertises a short introductory offer; compare it separately from the standard annual price. Taxes, processing charges, users and add-ons may change the bill. If job costing is required, verify the tier that provides it before comparing totals.

What can make the cheaper plan cost more?

The subscription is only one part of operating cost. Compare payment processing, required add-ons, extra users, accounting integration, phone or messaging services, onboarding, data migration and the staff time needed to complete work outside the system.
